Opening Address for i-CREATe 2020



It is my great honor to host the 2020 International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering and Technology (i-CREATe 2020), which promotes the development of assistive technology, increases the quality of life of the elderly and people with disabilities and enhances their independence and social participation.



2020 is a very special year. We are experiencing a tremendous pandemic impact, which greatly changes our life. The COVID-19 makes it impossible for you to attend i-CREATe2020 in Taiwan. We kindly appreciate your understanding that iCRETATe2020 can be held by virtual style only due to severely ongoing pandemic outbreak.



The 14th annual convention i-CREATe 2020 provides the global student innovation challenge (gSIC) , scientific program, a series of academic activities, workshop, and industry exhibition. Key-opinion leaders from around the world share their ideas and experiences. This is an important event of Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology globally. It provides an opportunity to renew the interpersonal relationships by an online platform also encourages and facilitates cooperation between participants.



i-CREATe 2020 is hosted by Taiwan Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society (TREATS). TREATS is a well-organized society, which integrates talents, international resources, markets, technology. It develops and promotes potential products in response to global market needs for the elderly and people with disabilities. It integrates professionals to make important policy and strategy. It promotes healthcare service and Industry-Academy Cooperation, and etc.

I am proud to present the the brilliant piece of performance by organist Hsiao-Yi Yu from Taiwan for your pleasure.

About Hsiao-Yi Yu

Hsiao-Yi Yu’s drew significant public attention since she won the First Prize in the first Taiwan Organ Competition in 2014. Hereafter, Ms. Yu has been in growing demand as soloist and performing with outstanding artists and orchestras.

Having met the universal applause from her recital in Vienna , Saint Jose in 2017, Yu was invited to perform in five cities in International Organ Festival Poland. Yu won the audience's heart with irresistible charm. Her performance was highly praised with substantial media coverage.

Yu launched two album recordings with great reception in 2018. Both were nominated by Golden Melody Award Taiwan and one of which won Best Religious Music in 2019.

Yu is going to have a recital with a brand new repetoire in National Concert Hall Taipei in January 31, 2021.

Born in Taipei, 1981. Hsiao-Yi Yu majored in Vocal in Soochow University. Upon finishing her master degree in pipe organ performance in Taiwan Theological College and Seminary, she was invited as the faculty member. Ms. Yu is also the principal organist for Bangkah Presbyterian Church in Taipei.
